Recreational Activities
When it comes to outdoor recreation, New Mexico is second to no state!
Land of Enchantment is a very appropriate title for New Mexico. Whether your tastes are of the sight seeing nature, or a thrill seeking adrenaline junkie, we have something to fit the bill! The large variation of altitudes produces wonderful diversity in terrain. Our rich cultural and historic traditions make for some great road trips.
The more adventurous types will enjoy almost any outdoor activity you can imagine. Enjoy fly fishing? The quality waters of the San Juan up near Aztec are rated as one of the top ten trout streams in the country. Taos ski valley is a world class resort with a distinctly European flair.
Like to backpack, hike and camp? You can find warm places in the southern deserts in the winter and a huge variety of mountains with very few people for your summer excursions.
Into ancient cultures, rock hounding or archeology? New Mexico has ruins of some of the oldest civilizations on the North American continent. Only California and Alaska contain a larger numbers of minerals than you can find in New Mexico.
For a break from the summer sun visit one of our many large reservoirs and play in the water for a while. As the fifth largest state in the country, you can spend a life time exploring New Mexico and never experience all it has to offer for outdoor fun and sight seeing opportunities!
